The Sale That Started It All

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes getting rid of half of your stuff….

With any luck, it’s getting rid of his half of the stuff.

When Grant and I got married and moved in together, we weren’t fresh out of college with only a futon to our names.  We were in our early 30s, and he had a house full of stuff while I had more than a house full (from back when I worked in residential design and got discounts). Where was my mind? Also, where was my body?

Long story short, we had a lot of stuff to get rid of and it was all relatively new and not cheap.  We also had a wedding, a honeymoon, and a move to pay for so I got selling.  I listed the full contents of two dining rooms, an office, a living room and a bedroom. Through the experience I learned a lot about the various selling apps and websites, and even more about how to ensure the sale goes through.  We wound up with enough money from the sales to cover the move and the new décor I “needed” to finish off our first place.
